Dipanwita Sarkar received her Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, in 2008. Her areas of research include Applied Econometrics and Labor Economics with emphasis on Demography and Human Capital. She has published in peer-reviewed academic journals, presented at numerous conferences, and has been the recipient of several honors and awards including the Dean’s Graduate Dissertation Fellowship at SMU and the Ford Foundation Fellowship. Dr. Sarkar was an Assistant Professor of Economics at The University of Louisiana from 2007 to 2010. Prior to her teaching career, Dr. Sarkar has worked as Economic Consultant at Colemont Insurance Brokerage, Inc. and Organ Transport Systems, Inc.
