- IGC Research on India
In addition to having deep, persistent socioeconomic costs, civil conflict can profoundly change individual beliefs, values, and preferences. This project seeks to analyse why Assam – a state where inter-group conflicts have been rife – has been left behind from India’s economic boom. The proposed research will be the first to provide a behavioural perspective, using experimental evidence, on the effects of childhood exposure to conflict and violence on pro- and anti-social behaviour and attitudes towards risk-taking.
