Jalaj Pathak is Assistant Professor of Finance at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai. He completed his Ph.D. from IIM Bangalore in Finance and Accounting. He has a Bachelors in Economics (Hons) from Delhi University, and an MBA with a specialisation in Finance. He has worked with D.E Shaw (Arcesium) as an Analyst dealing with exotic derivatives in functions of security mapping and management for Knock In-out options, Swaptions, CDXs, among other products. His doctoral research was aimed at examining the impact of central bank speeches for the developed and emerging markets with an emphasis on textual quantification techniques. His interests lie in behavioural finance, sentiment analysis, and text analysis. He has published papers regarding central bank communication and tone analysis in journals such as European Financial Management and Economics Letters.
