Tanay Suntwal is a researcher in trade and economic policy, with a focus on agriculture, global trade, and India’s position in the world economy. His work lies at the intersection of evidence-based analysis and policy relevance, seeking to understand how domestic reforms and international developments influence India’s growth prospects and competitiveness. He is particularly interested in issues related to agricultural transformation, trade policy, and the challenges and opportunities of globalisation for emerging economies like India. 

He has co-authored policy briefs and opinion pieces with Dr. Ashok Gulati, and has contributed to research that highlights pressing policy questions in areas such as export performance, import dependence, and structural reforms. Beyond his research collaborations, he has gained practical experience through internships with organisations such as the National Stock Exchange (NSE), where he worked on market investigations and data analytics. He has also undertaken projects in areas including GDP forecasting, financial portfolio optimisation, and fraud detection in financial markets, which reflect his strong quantitative and analytical skills. 

He holds a M.Sc. in Economics from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, and a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies. His work aims to contribute to India’s policy discourse by providing data-driven insights that strengthen economic policymaking and enhance India’s engagement with global markets.
