Shamim Ara is an Indian Economic Service officer working in the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Her broad areas of research interest include issues relating to Industrial performance, gender inequality, labour economics, economics of education, digitalisation and human capital. She holds a PhD in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Economics from Aligarh Muslim University.
