Avani Kapur is a researcher and development practitioner and a leading public finance expert with nearly two decades of experience. She is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) and Founder, Director of Foundation for Responsive Governance (ResGov) which works on transforming lives by enabling responsive governance that is adaptive, accessible, and attentive to every vulnerable citizen’s need.
Prior to this, Avani was a Senior Fellow at CPR where she led the Accountability Initiative – the largest research group working towards strengthening accountability and transparency in governance. She has led several financing, and process tracking studies on implementation of key social sector programmes including in health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and education. She is a Tech4Good Fellow and part of the WICCI Council of Ethics. As part of her academic work, she is on the editorial board of the Journal of Development Policy and Practice and regular reviewer for Journals such as World Development Perspectives, Journal of Food Security amongst others. She is an alumnus of the London School of Economics and Political Science and Smith College, Massachusetts.
