Alain de Janvry is a professor of agricultural and resource economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He has conducted field research in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent, focusing, among other topics, on rural development and technological innovations in agriculture. He previously served as Co-Chair of J-PAL's Agricultural Technology Adoption Initiative and as a member of its review board. He holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
