A.J. Francis Zavier is a Senior Programme Officer at the Population Council’s India Office and is a demographer, with more than 20 years of experience in reproductive and sexual health research in India. His research has focussed on health and development issues such as education, livelihood, family planning, maternal and reproductive health services, and nutrition of women and children. He has also conducted research and evaluations on sensitive issues such as abortion and sex preference, and sex selective abortion. He has played a key role in conducting the monitoring and evaluation of several projects that the Council has conducted in India. He has presented his research in several national and international conferences, such as Asian Population Association, International Union for Scientific Study of Population, Asia Pacific Conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and the International Conference on Family Planning.
