Sam van Noort is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Cambridge, where he is supervised by Ha-Joon Chang (Faculty of Economics and Centre of Development Studies). His Ph.D. research focusses on the effect of State capacity on human- and economic development. He is also interested in the role of private property rights security in the process of economic development, and the effect of international trade on the manufacturing sector in developing countries. He received a B.Sc. in political science and a M.Sc. in quantitative research methodology from the University of Amsterdam.
