K.G. Santhya, is a Senior Associate at the Population Council. Santhya is a demographer and an economist with over 20 years of experience in designing and conducting rigorous large-scale, cross-sectional, and longitudinal cohort studies, and mixed-methods processes, and impact evaluations in the fields of education, vocational skill-building, promotion of livelihoods, violence prevention, and sexual and reproductive health of vulnerable populations. She currently leads the Poverty, Gender and Youth programme at the Population Council’s India Office. She has served as the principal investigator/co-principal investigator on a number of large, complex, state- and national-level research initiatives, and has extensive experience and expertise in conducting research and evaluation with vulnerable, at-risk, and hard-to-reach populations. She has authored over 75 book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, and study reports on migration and sexual behaviour, child marriage, education, violence against women, maternal health, and youth sexual and reproductive health. She has served as a member of various panels, including the Scientific Panel on Reproductive Health, and the Scientific Panel on HIV/AIDS and Sexual Behaviour, International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, and was an elected member of the Executive Council of the Asian Population Association during 2013-18.
