Indira Rajaraman taught for 18 years at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. She subsequently held the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Chair at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), Delhi, until her retirement in 2007. Prof. Rajaraman was a member of the 13th Finance Commission, whose recommendations covered the fiscal years 2010-2015. She was in several committees that shaped the process of financial and fiscal reform over the last two decades, and served as member of the Board of Directors of the RBI for a four-year term (2011-2015). A book collection of her writings in the financial press, titled Economically Speaking, was published in January 2016 by Academic Foundation.
