G Ananthapadmanabhan (Ananth) Guruswamy is the CEO of Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI), a grant-making arm of Azim Premji’s efforts to contribute to a just, equitable, sustainable, and humane society. Previously, he was the head of teacher education at the Azim Premji Foundation, with the mandate to transform the quality of teacher education in the country. Prior to that, Ananth was the CEO of the Nobel Prize-winning Amnesty International in India. He was also International Programme Director at Greenpeace, following his role as CEO of Greenpeace India. He started his work life as a teacher at The School – Krishnamurti Foundation India. Ananth graduated in 1988 from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras with a B.Tech. in electrical engineering.
