Shekhar Mittal is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Global Economics and Management at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) – Anderson School of Management. His current research focusses on aspects of value-added tax (VAT) system and tax compliance in India. Born and raised in India, he earned his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in computer science from Delhi University and a Master's in public policy from the University of Chicago. Before starting graduate school, he was a software engineer at Cisco which was followed by a stint at a Delhi-based policy think tank.
