Nisha TANEJA is Professor at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). She has a Ph.D. in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her broad areas of interest include WTO issues, regional trade, industrial economics and institutional economics. She has been engaged in several research projects that have been sponsored by Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Finance, Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, UNIDO, The London School of Economics, Indian Corporate sector, DFID, FCO, and the South Asia Network of Economic research Institutes (SANEI). Some of her recent research work includes informal trade in South Asia, trade facilitation and non-tariff barriers. She has also worked extensively on various aspects of India-Pakistan trade, India-Nepal Trade, India-Sri Lanka trade, India-China trade and India-Korea trade. She is currently leading the project on sub-regional cooperation between India, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
She has served on committees set up by the Government of India on Informal Trade, Rules of Origin and Non-tariff Barriers and was recently appointed as Transshipment Adviser to the Government of Nepal. Her research papers have been published in several journals and have been disseminated widely in India and abroad. She has worked as a Consultant with the Asian Development Bank and The World Bank on a range of issues since 1998. The topics include - supply chain analysis for Sri Lanka, supply chain analysis for Indian industry, India-Pakistan trade, product reservation for small-scale sector in India, regional integration in South Asia, informal trade in South Asia and non-tariff barriers in South Asia.
