Sofia Amaral is an Economist at the South Asia Gender Innovation Lab (SAR GIL), The World Bank Group. Prior to joining SAR-GIL she was an Economist at the Center for Labor Economics of the ifo Institute at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. She is also holder of a Leibniz Junior Research Groups Grant under the project "The Economics of Violence Against Women: Understanding Causes and Identifying Remedies". She is also a CESifo Research Affiliate and an Affiliate of the Center for Crime, Justice and Policing of the University of Birmingham, UK. Her research interests include Violence against Women and Children, Development, Gender, and Economics of Crime. The context of her research has been India, UK, El Salvador, Mozambique, and Colombia.
