Ashok Kumar Lahiri is an Indian economist currently serving as a member of the 15^th Finance Commission. Dr Lahiri previously served as 12^th Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India, reader at the Delhi School of Economics (DSE), Chairman of Bandhan Bank, Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank, and Director of the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP). He has had stints with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as a Consultant and Senior Economist, respectively. He has published in academic journals as well as popular media on both economic and electoral politics issues.
