Subhasree Sarkar is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Economics from University of Calcutta. Her primary area of research is economic history of India particularly with respect to the silk industry. She is also interested in topics of development economics and political economy. She completed her M.Phil and Masters in Economics from University of Calcutta and Bachelors in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi.
