Ramesh Chand
Prof. Ramesh Chand is Director, National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NIAP) at ICAR. At present, he is engaged in research on food Policy, trade and WTO, and agricultural growth and development. He is actively involved in policy formulation as a member/ chair of several high-level committees constituted by central government ministries and international organisations. He has worked as consultant for FAO, UNDP, ESCAP, Commonwealth, OECD and World Bank. He has been a technical expert for inter-governmental meetings like G-20, SAARC, UN-ESCAP and FAO.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in research and teaching. He has worked in senior academic positions as Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR; Professor and Head of the Agricultural Economics Unit at the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi University; Professor of Marketing at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana; Visiting Professor at University of Wollongong, NSW Australia (2000); and Visiting Fellow at Institute of Developing Economies, Chiba Shi, Japan (2003). 

He holds a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, and is a recipient of Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award (2010). He has authored seven books and more than 100 research papers published in reputed national and international journals.
