Lawrence Haddad is a Senior Research Fellow in the International Food Policy Research Institute’s Poverty Health and Nutrition Division. He was the Director of the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex from 2004 to 2014. Prior to that he was a Division Director at IFPRI and a Lecturer in Development Economics at the University of Warwick, UK. He is an economist and his main research interests are at the intersection of poverty, food insecurity, and malnutrition.

The World Health Assembly is targeting a decline of 100 million in the number of stunted under-five children by 2025; a 10% decline in stunting rates in India by 2014 can close a fifth of the gap.
